love {18}

I love this other poem by Ralph Waldo Emerson, not. Ha ha. I am in junior high again. The poem is wrongly attributed to him, but is probably written by a Bessie Stanley in 1905. What a trickster. Anyway, here is the poem.

To laugh often and much;

To win the respect of intelligent people
and the affection of children;

To earn the appreciation of honest critics
and endure the betrayal of false friends;

To appreciate beauty;
To find the best in others;

To leave the world a bit better, whether by
a healthy child, a garden patch
or a redeemed social condition;

To know even one life has breathed
easier because you have lived;

This is to have succeeded.

    I have many memories of that fountain- and lots of pictures taken there- I need some of my kids too!

    Oh my gosh. He looks so little. I miss that! Stop growing Gentry! Just stop it!

    PS the pic of them holding hands nearly made me tear up.
